EBS Business School 2013
Hi there,
have you ever heard about this place called EBS Business School in Germany?
I have the pleasure of studying here since a year and I love every second of it! Before coming to EBS, I did a bachelor degree in Spain and now I am here, doing my Master degree in Management.
So what's so great about EBS?
To cut a long story short: Everything! But let's start with the classes...
For example, the EBS Master in Management allows me to choose my classes according to my tastes. So I can pick what I like from Marketing, Organizational Management, Leadership, Finance, and so on.
In my particular case, I decided to go for Digital Business in my first semester, as well as Price & Product Management. In fact, I enjoyed Digital Business so much that now I am writing my Master thesis in this field and see my professional future there. Of course this is not all there is to say about the great classes that are offered here, but I'm going to talk more about that in the future. ;)
What's also great about EBS Business School is the fact that most classes are quite small and that professors are more than often very approachable and friendly. That's cool when it comes to projects or homework assignments that require feedback. Furthermore, it adds to the friendly and warm atmosphere on campus.
Another awesome fact about EBS Business School is its great network inside of the German industry and business community. During my first days at EBS Business School, I was able to see the likes of Mr. Frank Mattern, CEO of McKinsey Germany, Manfred Maus (founder of OBI, the largest German DIY retail market chain), Mark Sommer (son of legendary Telekom CEO Ron Sommer), etc. The list goes on...
What I am trying to say is that if you decide to go to EBS Business School, you will never have a problem of getting a job or an internship during or after your studies. Furthermore, the EBS Alumni association is the biggest of its kind in Germany and collaborates every year during multiple events with the associations of Harvard, Wharton and so on. So please, there's no need to worry about your future employment. Not if you studied at EBS!
Another really cool thing to mention about EBS is that they teach you how to present yourself and business concepts in a coherent and professional manner. When I first started studying at EBS, I was surprised when I saw that 50% of a presentation grade consisted of the correct formatting. I couldn't believe it but quickly realized that this makes a lot of sense and a huge difference.
In the two semesters that I have spent here in Oestrich-Winkel, I have been able to push my level of presenting to a whole new level. It's not only that it's demanded and evaluated, it's also that my fellow students set such a high standard that I picked up their ways of presenting almost automatically.
When you come here to EBS, you can expect a competitive environment that pushes you to work harder and to achieve more. Many of my fellow students are very much interested in being the best, so you should be prepared to give your best during assignments and exams.
OK, but what is there else to do at EBS or in Oestrich-Winkel?
The good news is: A lot!
First, EBS offers around 20 student initiatives in which you can participate and enjoy yourself. If you want more details, you can check out www.ebs-students.com. There is broad range from entertainment (EBS Event -> the party organizer; In Vino Veritas -> wine tastings) to education (James Consulting -> Real consulting work for some of the biggest German companies, EBS Journalism, EBS Marketing, etc...) to Congresses (EBS Symposium, Supply Chain Management Forum, Real Estate).
What makes these initiatives really special is that Bachelor students are incentivized, via our very own and unique PACE system here at EBS, to give their best outside of the classroom and to participate in those ressorts. They are rewarded for their work with a higher rank in the going abroad ranking, so when they have to choose a partner university for their semester abroad, they will be privileged, according to their efforts at EBS. As a consequence, these student initiatives are very active and lively, and achieve a lot. This is shown by the fact that the student body of EBS generates a yearly revenue of around 600.000 Euros. Pretty cool, ay?
Apart from all these nice things that you can do directly at EBS, you can of course also enjoy the wonderful Rheingau landscape. Because it's one of the best regions in Germany for the cultivation of wine, there is a huge number of vineyards and castles that accompany them. For example, I would definitely recommend visiting Schloss Johannisberg or Schloss Vollrads but also Kloster Eberbach.
In addition to these attractions, you can also take a tour on the River Rhine and you also enjoy it when you study in the library because you have an excellent view on the river while reading, which makes the studying much nicer and relaxing than in other places.
Anyhow, you can also go clubbing in the area. Apart from nice bars in Oestrich-Winkel, you can always decide to party in the two nearer cities, Wiesbaden or Mainz (15 KM away) or you can go to Frankfurt (45 KM) if you want to hit it really hard. Many students from EBS enjoy partying and consequently, you will always find someone to have fun with and to take a break from studying with.
All in all, the EBS Business School provides you with a great education and an ever greater lifestyle, both things that are extremely important for young people like you and me. So, in my opinion, it's definitely worth applying and going through the hassle of taking the GMAT because boy, it's great to be here once you get in!!!
